Butte La Rose, LA residents were shocked to learn on Friday that the Morganza spillway on the Mississippi river would be opened, and water would soon be filling their small valley, and submerging their homes. With only days notice, the Army Corps of Engineers explained that the town would soon be under 15 feet of water, and advised everyone in the town to pack as if they were moving away, permanently, stating that this action would be considered an disaster.

Residents scrambled on Friday to get moving as quickly as possible in fear of the approaching disaster, taking everything they could that could potentially be ruined by invading flood waters.
