Residents along Peach Drive in Millville, N.J. found at least 80 birds dead on the ground Tuesday morning. Officials told NBC10’s Ted Greenberg that they believe the birds were killed on purpose and legally by a nearby farmer.

Residents in a Cumberland County community were left wondering Tuesday morning what caused dozens of birds to drop dead from the sky.

Residents along Peach Drive in Millville found at least 80 birds — mostly red-winged blackbirds — on the ground dead having fallen from trees and the sky.

“Crazy — something out of a movie,” said resident Michelle Cavalieri who saw the birds fall from the sky.

The birds caused a bloody mess on roadways in the residential neighborhood.

“They’d get up and try and fly and they were out of control so they’d crash and fall again,” said resident Jim Sinclair. “It was just strange.”Dozens of blackbirds fell from the sky Tuesday in Millville, N.J.

Animal control, public health officials and other emergency crews were on the scene later Tuesday morning collecting dead birds to try and figure out exactly what caused so many of them to die.

Cumberland County Public Information Officer Troy Ferus said Tuesday claiming that it wasn’t something environmental that killed the birds but rather something they ate — a granular pesticide put down legally by nearby Ingraldi Farms.

“Preliminary investigation gives us the impression that.. he had problems with birds,” said Ferus earlier in the day. “He applied for and got a permit for a product that kills birds and that’s what it seems to have been effective at doing.”

Here is the county’s press release on the incident:

The Department of Health reports that Monday evening Ingraldi Farms applied a granular pesticide intended and approved to cull birds, causing an unusually high volume of dead birds in the area of Ingraldi Farms and Whitemarsh Estates in Millville.

The material used; Avitrol Double Strength Corn Chops (EPA reg. # 11649-5) is approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and intended to be used for bird control for Blackbirds, Brewer’s Blackbirds, Cowbirds, Grackles, Red-Winged Blackbirds, Rusty Blackbird, Starlings and Yellow-Headed Blackbirds.

In the past, Ingraldi Farms has also used Avian Control (EPA reg. # 33162-1) a ready to use liquid repellent intended to be used for bird control for Geese, Gull, Pigeon, Crows, Starlings, House Sparrows, Blackbirds, Grackles and House Finches.

Ingraldi Farms is licensed through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to apply pesticides on their farms and has been working with the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife to alleviate the crop damage done by large flocks of birds. Remedies include auditory shock, hunting and pesticides. Ingraldi Farms has estimated a crop loss of $15,000 so far, due to the birds eating their crops.

Bird specimens have been collected and are being sent to the NJ-Department of Environmental Protection Laboratory for testing.

Health officals were on the scene in Millville collecting the dead birds. No one at Ingraldi Farms would talk to NBC10’s Ted Greenberg when he went there for comment.

Officials say the dead birds are not toxic but that any member of the public that encounters a dead bird should use gloves when picking it up and wash their hands thoroughly after handling and disposing of it in the trash.

But they put out a call to residents Tuesday afternoon that urged residents to remain inside “due to an odor and the death of several birds in the area.”

Recently bird kills have happened in various locations around the world — possibly none more famous than the New Year’s Eve death of hundreds of blackbirds in Arkansas.

Major Fish Kill Reported On Texas Coast

    Source: KWTX

GALVESTON (August 13, 2012)–Hundreds of thousands of dead fish have washed up on the beach in Galveston, where crews went to work Monday to remove the dead fish.

Peter Davis of the Galveston Island Beach Patrol said Sunday the small shad fish likely were killed by low oxygen levels in the Gulf of Mexico.

Davis estimated hundreds of thousands of fish have died.

Galveston County health officials said the water is fine for beachgoers.

Biologist Steven Mitchell with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said calm conditions and summer heat may have contributed to the fish kill.

He said there’s a possibility of a dead zone in the water off Galveston.

    Testing is expected this week.

600 Dead Penguins Wash up in Uruguay

About 600 dead penguins have washed up on Uruguay’s Atlantic coast over the past few days.

Experts are trying to determine what has killed the animals.

A navy statement says the latest batch is 200 dead Magellan penguins discovered on the shore at La Paloma about 200km east of Montevideo.

A marine animal rescue group previously reported that the carcasses of 400 Magellan penguins washed up around the resort town of Piriapolis along with dead turtles, dolphins and albatrosses. The resort is about halfway between Montevideo and La Paloma.

Experts say it is common for dead penguins to appear in the area at this time of year, but the extent of the die-off appears to be unusual.

Incredible swarms of fish form off coast of Acapulco: But was surge caused by tsunami thousands of miles away?

    By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

The shores of Acapulco’s beaches were this weekend teeming with masses of fish packed so tightly they looked like an oil slick from above.

Thousands of sardines, anchovies, stripped bass and mackerel surged along the coast of the Mexican resort in an event believed to be linked to the devastating Japanese tsunami.

Delighted fishermen rushed out in wooden motor boats, abandoning their rods and nets and simply scooping the fish up with buckets.

‘There were about 20 or 30 fishermen and there were people who came with their kids to take advantage of it,’ Carlos Morales said.

The fishermen attributed the strange phenomenon to the unusual currents unleashed by tsunami that followed the earthquake in Japan.

    Experts couldn’t be sure.

‘It would fall into that category where you would love to make the connection, but who knows?’ said Rich Briggs, a geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey.

‘Tsunamis can change local currents, but it’s hard to make a firm connection.’

Report: Neurotoxin found in dead sardines found floating in Southern California marina

LOS ANGELES – The millions of sardines that were found floating dead in a Southern California marina this week tested positive for a powerful neurotoxin, researchers said Friday.

High levels of domoic acid were found in the sardines, which may have distressed them off the Los Angeles coastline and caused them to swim into the Redondo Beach marina, University of Southern California biologist David Caron wrote in a summary of his laboratory’s findings which were reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Caron said that he still believes that critically low oxygen levels in the water caused the sardines to suffocate, but it’s possible the toxin may have been one explanation for why they crowded into the marina.

The California Department of Fish and Game has blamed the die-off on oxygen deprivation and is also testing fish for toxins at its animal forensics laboratory. Results are not expected until next week.

Domoic acid is often found in the stomach of fish that have been feeding on plankton during toxic algae blooms. The toxin has been linked to neurological disorders, illnesses and deaths in seabirds, sea lions, sea otters and whales.

Caron’s lab is working to determine if the poisoning was caused by a toxic algae bloom spotted off Redondo Beach on Wednesday.

The presence of the toxin in the sardines could lead to health complications for pelicans, gulls and other sea life that have been feasting on the dead fish.

“There were tons of birds feeding on these fish and it’s conceivable that we’ll see some bird mortality as a result,” Caron said.

The fish died late Monday and carpeted the water’s surface the next morning, stacking up to 2 feet deep in some places. Crews have already scooped and hauled away more than 85 tons of fish to a composting center where they will turn into fertilizer.

Massive fish and bird die-off in progress | Brazil | Sweden | USA | New Zealand

Sudden bird and fish die offs around the planet spark end of days fears (as if we needed more of that)

Google map of Bird and Fish die off

View Mass Animal Deaths in a larger map

It started with reports from the BBC on January 3rd 2010 that 1000 birds had dropped from the sky, and that the cause was fireworks (sure), and one after another, the stories came in of more die offs around the world. Sweden, Brazil, the United States, New Zealand. Who is next?

This early report on the Beebe local station reports 2000+ but the numbers are indicating at least 5000 or more birds dead, oddly, all within a 1 mile radius of each other.

Massive fish die off, also in Arkansas.

Spruce Creek Florida, thousands of fish suddenly dead.

Massive Fish Die Off in Baltimore

In Baltimore, a cold spell is supposedly to blame for a massive fish die off numbering in the tens of thousands:

GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. a woman reports “dozens of dead birds” around her yard. “It’s really creepy.”

Pointe Coupee Parish LABARRE, La, “Hundreds of dead blackbirds found near New Roads” Dr. Jim LaCour of Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said people who find such die-offs should not touch the animals, and instead contact their regional wildlife office.

And in Sweden, 50 to 100 jackdaws were found by residents dead on their street. “We have received information from local residents last night. Our main theory is that the birds were scared away because of the fireworks and landed on the road, but couldn’t fly away from the stress and were hit by a car”

That happens all the time, right? Why the fireworks story again, half a world away? Is this some sort of talking point? When has new years fireworks ever caused groups of birds to simply drop dead?

Paraná, Paranaguá Brazil, a massive 100 ton sardine / croaker / catfish die off is going to impact the local fisherman’s livelihoods as there will be significantly less to actually eat. None of the fish are allowed to be eaten.

100 tonnes of sardines, croakers and catfish dead in Brazil

“Internet keyword searches continue to register off the charts. Queries like “dead fish Bible,” dead birds and fish Revelation,” dead birds and fish die End Times.” were being entered by the million Tuesday,” writes Jim Hagerty.

Controversial Pastor James David Manning, voiced his belief that the die-offs were a harbinger of the Great Tribulation and the start of the Biblical end times, calling the phenomena “Global Katrina 2,” and, an act of “biological warfare”.

It is my personal belief that the Corexit clouds from the Gulf are systematically destroying waves of animals as they pass through it. It could be anything, at this point. The level toxicity affecting living creatures at this point in time is astounding, and growing daily. The chemtrails that clutter the sky, raining down heavy metal particles and the pollution of the planet in addition to all the medicines and drugs that have been flushed away by careless minds, the world is undergoing a mass extinction level event, right now.

A study conducted by Russia’s Ministry of Natural Resources concluded that oil in the environment is toxic at 11 PPM (parts per million). Corexit 9500 is toxic at only 2.61 PPM.

CHARLESTON, S.C., Jan. 6 (UPI) — Hundreds of thousands of dead fish washed ashore on the South Carolina coast Thursday morning, littering the sand along the tide line, wildlife officials said.

As the water in the Gulf of Mexico heats up, Corexit 9500 goes through a phase transition that changes it from a liquid to a gas, which is readily absorbed by clouds and released as toxic rain. Which is likely the cause of the strange spots and disease found on crops in the midwest recently.

Lets not forget, the same chemical was used in the Exxon Valdez cleanup, and nearly all of those workers are now dead.

According to the Institute for Southern Studies, “A large number of workers cleaning up the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico report that they are suffering from flu-like symptoms.”

Michael Snyder wrote an article in a Business Insider which reveals problems currently affecting Florida beach residents, who are not actively involved in any cleanup effort on the spill, just living near it. The quote:

“My 2 friends and I have been sick with headaches and vomiting, also it feels like heartburn, just feeling lousy. We have not been to the Gulf but there is an inlet at the end of our street. We live on the West side of Pensacola FL. near the Bayou. At first I thought it was just me. My 2 friends are having the same symptoms, all at the same time. Right now I have a dull headache, and my stomach is queasy. I have been thinking maybe the chemicals from the oil cleanup or the oil itself is causing us to be ill. It has been raining all day off and on. I started feeling ill late last night. I was wondering if anyone else in Pensacola have the same symptoms.”
